DND RHPS tired

Today was an eventful day. the only thing I didn't do is run. This is becoming a problem. I need to start getting in my long training runs but I never get to them on the weekend. Sigh.

Oh the other hand I did have a bundle of fun at Craig's D&D game. We had a lot of joking and yet still made good progress. I am looking forward to the next session. I really like how our group has evolved. Its a good breakup of personalities and styles. And the games are made more fun and casual with sandwiches and drinks (both alcoholic and non) Good Times.

After the game I rushed like a madman down to LA to see Sins O' the Flesh perform the Rocky Horror Picture Show. This is my 12th time watching that freaking movie and, well, 'madness takes its toll.' I took my coworker Chris and he seemed to have a decent time. It was definitely something out of his experience.

Running and reflection

Whenever I run (I did a three miler today) I wind up thinking about all of my recent problems and goals. That is until about a mile when my mental abilities drop down a notch to allow more blood flow to my legs.
This run was begun with thoughts of adulthood. The American culture lacks a rite of passage. There is no celebration to mark adulthood, just a succession of slowly increased rights and responsibilities. Driving, smoking, and drinking are the privileges of age, balanced by moving out and getting a job. One is left to determine for himself/herself when they are an adult. While running I was thinking over the difficulty that I have been having waking when I plan to, and with running all of the training runs in preparation for the Pasadena marathon. I live on my own and have a great job, but some days I just feel like an impostor. Will I feel different when I finish the marathon? when I change jobs? when I move in with my girlfriend? when?!?!

sigh

Welcome Distraction

Adam, mu brother, was in town for the weekend. This mostly derailed my plans all weekend. I am always glad to see him but I only ran once this weekend and for maybe not as far as I should have. He will be moving back into town in October and I am looking forward to that very much. Maybe then he will be able to train with me. I am apprehensive about my training pace. I should be exercising 6 days a week and am only managing 4.
In other news It seems that I am being sucked back into the Warhammer 40,000 hobby that I had nearly left. I am painting miniatures in preparation for playing more often when Adam gets back. Lets see if I can carve out some time for this additional distraction.

Short Run

Another day another run. Tonight’s run was about 2.5 miles. Not a long one but my schedule only calls for a 2-3 miler. Work continues to be demanding, a combination of overtaxed leadership and under supervised workers is dragging the project behind schedule. I hope that I can keep up with the runs under the pressure of my work schedule and without a training partner. A third concern is, will I have time for other creative projects in addition to work and training?

Marathon training

I began training for the Pasadena Marathon today. I have sixteen weeks to get into 26.2 mile shape. I ran an easy 3 miler in Monrovia. Runners world has a rookie training program that I am going to use for this crazy thing, and I plan on blogging it. This means that I will be breaking the original intent of this blogger account, which was to be only a photoblog. Oh well, I am not going to manage multiple blogs so It all goes here. The run was a bit challenging because I had pizza and birthday cake beforehand. Not the best pre-run meal but it was my buddy Sean's birthday, and I couldn't skip out on him. Anyone want to run with me?
